Staff at Connect for Health’s Nuneaton base have collected a trolley load of food for a local foodbank.
Nuneaton Team Leader Becky Ellis said: “The idea to collect food and essentials for a food bank donation came after several young people in the area expressed to our nurses that they are worried about food in their homes.”
The hub’s team of fifteen collected eight large bags of food. The bags included tinned goods, cereals, as well as non-food essentials such as nappies, baby wipes and toiletries.
The food collection was taken to a local food bank called ‘Ediblelinks’ which is based in Atherstone, North Warwickshire.
C4H health care support workers, Afsana Iliyas and Michelle Brook delivered the food.
Afsana said: “The staff were very appreciative and thanked us for the generous food donations. It was a pleasure for me and Michelle to do this lovely delivery of food donations from our team. Knowing it was going to a good cause was a great feeling.”
The food bank donation replaced a yearly Christmas tradition of “Secret Santa” for the Nuneaton team. The previous budget for Secret Santa will be used to purchase food items for donations, the new Christmas tradition for the team. The staff at the other Connect for Health bases, Rugby and Stratford, plan to join the Nuneaton staff in the spirit of giving next Christmas.
